Educational Psychology Clinic

The Educational Psychology Clinic offers many services for young children and adults. For children 3-6, early childhood assessments are offered. Services for children ages 6-17 include tutoring and psychoeducational assessment. Counseling is offered for people of all ages.

For my newsmaker profile I interviewed Dr. Kristin Powers, director of the clinic. She wants people to know that counseling, stress and time management and career guidance are offered. The clinic would like to have more students take advantage of these services. They are looking for people to start at the beginning of next semester so they may counsel students for a full 15 weeks.

The establishment of the program, Ed. D. in Educational Leadership, is considered a major achievement. It helps to cultivate highly qualified teachers in grades P-12 and community college. The program helps to train them to deal with the many different situations they will face as classroom teachers. The program is setup to be completed in three years while working.

Whitson first started working at CSULB in 2001 at the Career Development Center. There was a ceremony held for her on Friendship Walk near the University Student Union. Whitson was pleasantly surprised when she heard the good news and said there are many staff members that deserve recognition.
